M5 Chip Promises Speed, Efficiency, and Smarter Features For The New MacBook Pro

Apple announced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M5 chip. It was unveiled through a press release, so you don’t need to worry that you missed a live event. The new 14-inch MacBook Pro improves AI, graphics, and battery life.

The new M5 Chip in the latest MacBook emphasizes AI performance, with it being up to 3.5x faster than the M4 and an impressive 6x faster than the M1. Each GPU in the M5 has a Neural Accelerator, improving AI model processing and on-device LLM performance. It makes for fast text-to-image generation and quicker AI-assisted workflows.

The upgrades to speed don’t only come to the CPU and graphics; they also make the new MacBook 14-inch 20% faster at multithread performance, giving it the ability to have 150GB/s of memory bandwidth, and an impressive 24-hour battery life. The performance is consistent on battery or plugged in.

Apple’s benchmarks show real-world gains with 7.7x faster AI video enhancement in TPVideo, 6.8x faster rendering in Blenderm, and 2.1x faster code compiling in Xcode. The new chip also helps with gaming frame rates and makes for smooth creative workflows.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M5 Chip is one of the first Macs to come out of the box with macOS Tahoe, with new features like an updated Spotlight, Continuity, and Live Activities. Apple Intelligence expands across system apps for translation, automation, and privacy-protected AI tools.

This new MacBook Pro’s design is the same, with a Liquid Retina XDR display with 1600 nits of peak brightness, a 12MP built-in camera, a six-speaker system, and multiple ports. It can fast charge to 50% in 30 minutes, has 16GB of base memory, and the color options are space black and silver.

Since Apple is environmentally focused, they made this new 14-inch MacBook Pro with 45% recycled material, renewable energy, and it’s all packaged into fiber packaging. You can pre-order this new Mac with a release date of October 22. It costs $1,599 or $1,499 for education and is available for trade-in and AppleCare options.
