Wyze’s new smart lock opens with just a hand raise

Wyze, a smart home brand, showed us what might be the future of door locks. The new Wyze Palm Lock will open just by your hand and is on sale right now for $129.98, which is pretty good for a smart lock.

Wyze says that scanning your palm is a way safer way to unlock your door, compared to the old biometrical authentication methods like fingerprints. That’s also not the only way you can unlock this door lock. You can use the built in key-pad, the Wyze app, or slide up a cover and use a key.

It can store up to 50 different palms, has guest codes, and uses a sensor to detect if its fully closed and lock automatically. If the door is not fully closed, it will beep until it’s closed.

The battery on this smart lock lasts for 6 months, and even 2 weeks longer with the backup battery. How the battery lasts so long is by using a low-power millimeter wave radar that will only wake the lock when a person is detected near by. And if all the batteries die, you can easily plug in a USB-C wire and charge it.

Do you like this new type of smart lock? Do you think it’s safe? Will you be getting one? Let us know in the comments!
