Apple Watch Ultra 3 Brings a Bigger Screen, Longer Battery, and Satellite SOS

We just saw an amazing upgrade to the Apple Watch Ultra. This is the 3rd gen of the Ultra, and it gets a bigger display, satellite SOS, a better battery, and new health features.

Why this upgrade matters is because it shows that Apple is doubling down on outdoor, health, and the watch category.

Bigger Display & Battery Life

This upgrade of the Ultra gives it the largest screen ever in an Apple Watch, with a LTPO3, wide-angle OLED, that is brighter and has thinner bezels.

The display can now refresh at 1Hz when in always on mode, which means you can see a ticking second hand.

The battery also gets an upgrade with 42 hours of use, and up to 72 in Low Power Mode. If you also charge this watch for 15 minutes, it will give you 12 hours of use.

Connectivity

The Apple Watch Ultra gets 5G connectivity, which means you can stream faster, download faster, and have better calls. It also gets a new dual-antenna system for better weak-signal coverage.

For the first time in any Apple Watch, the Ultra 3 gets built-in satellite communications for SOS, Find My, and messaging family and friends while off the grid. All of these satellite features will come free for 2 years after purchased.

Health Features

For health features the Watch can now detect Hypertension, and send you a notification. This could notify millions of undiagnosed users in Just the first year alone!

Fitness

With the Ultra having iOS 26 standard, it has Workout Buddy, which give AI powered coaching with spoken motivation, and a new design in the workout app.

New Bands

For some new bands there is the new Trail Loop with reflective yarn, updated Ocean and Alpine bands, and new Hermès designed bands.

Sustainability

To help Apple meet its goal to be carbon neutral by 2030, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is made with 40% overall recycled content, a 100% recycled cobalt battery, is manufactured with 100% renewable energy, and has fully fiber-based packaging.

Pricing

The Watch starts at $799 and comes in natural and black titanium. Pre-orders start today, and products will ship on September 19th.
