Wyze Expands Its Smart Home Lineup with a New Battery Doorbell
Wyze has been rolling out a lot of new products recently, including this week’s Solar Cam Pan and now the Battery Video Doorbell. The new doorbell is meant to be budget-friendly and an easy-to-install option that doesn’t require wiring.
It is a little more expensive than the wired Doorbell v2, which is cheaper but lacks battery power. The new one has a resolution of 1536x1536 and a 159-degree viewing angle, giving a full head-to-toe look at visitors or packages. One of the highlights of the new doorbell is the rechargeable battery that lasts up to six months, though it does depend on activity levels. A wired installation is available that unlocks 24/7 recording and consistent power. There is also two-way audio, pre-recorded responses, and the optional deterrent voice that warns visitors they’re being recorded.
The doorbell supports local storage via microSD up to 256 GB, and also cloud storage for users with paid subscriptions. Wyze has an AI-powered person and package detection too, which is available through the cloud plan starting at $2.99 a month. The battery-powered doorbells do go offline when charging, so that’s something to consider for busy doorways!

Wyze is improving its security following last year’s data breach, where some users could access others’ video feed. The company says they are doubling down on transparency and safety in its latest releases. The new Battery Video Doorbell continues Wyze’s pattern of making affordable, feature-rich smart home devices, giving big brands competition.
The Battery Video Doorbell is priced at $65.98 and is available from Wyze’s online store.
Do you think Wyze’s new doorbell is better than a Ring? Do you think that the new features set it apart? Are you thinking about getting or upgrading to a smart doorbell? Let us know I the comments!
