Why This IKEA Wireless Charger Has a Donut on the Back

IKEA has recently released a fun wireless charger called VÄSTMÄRKE, which looks like a normal wireless charger with a red doughnut attached to the back. It has a high value as it costs $9.99, supports the newer Qi2 charging standard, and has built-in magnets to connect to iPhones with MagSafe and Pixel devices with PixelSnap.

The charger features two hidden functions that aren't immediately obvious. First, it can be used as a phone grip by turning the doughnut-shaped part inside out, allowing fingers to slide behind it, similar to a PopSocket. This is good because it allows a comfortable and secure grip while charging, reducing the chances of dropping the phone. Second, the ring can function as a storage compartment, where the built-in USB-C cable can be wrapped around the center. When the ring is closed, it hides the cable, giving the case a cleaner look.

VÄSTMÄRKE is just one of the new smart home products that IKEA has been making, and the product is very unique, with it having multiple functions: charging, grip, and cable storage, with a great price of $10! There is also a bowl-shaped VÄSTMÄRKE wireless charger with lighting that costs $25 and a $25 stand made out of cork that looks like a normal Qi2 wireless charger, but I think I like how the doughnut-shaped one looks and functions better.

Do you think you would like using a wireless charger with a doughnut stuck on the back? Do you think that this will be a popular product? Let us know in the comments!
