The Motorola Edge 70 is a Thin Phone That Still Feels Powerful
The Motorola Edge 70 is the first in a new generation of phones from Motorola. It has a thin design of 5.99mm, which is wider than both the S25 Edge and the iPhone Air. That is because Motorola is focusing on design and usability rather than sacrificing power for thinness. It has a lightweight, aluminum frame and Pantone-curated color options that have two colors on them, which look pretty good compared to other phones with just one color.

The thin design also doesn’t mean it is fragile, with things like a rating of IP68/IP69 and a front glass of Gorilla Glass 7i. All of this is military-grade durability standards, which shows how it was designed for real-world conditions while still staying pretty thin.
The camera system is a triple 50MP system with main, ultrawide/macro, and selfie cameras. It also uses Moto AI features such as the Photo Enhancement Engine, Signature Style, and Group Shot. So a lot of the time, your photos might not be what they were actually before all the processing.

The chip that powers this phone is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip with silicon-carbon battery tech. The phone has a long 38 hours of mixed use with 68W wired and 15W wireless TurboPower charging. Somehow, Motorola is balancing battery with a thin design using new tech.
The phone will cost a nice $799 with a launch starting in Europe and the Middle East, then globally later. When the phone does ship, it will come with eco-friendly materials and packaging, have a reduced carbon footprint, and have durability to extend its lifespan.
Would you buy a phone this thin if it meant a slightly bigger battery capacity than the iPhone 17 Pro Max? Yes, you heard that right, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a battery rating of 35 hours! Do you think smartphone makers should prioritize design or performance? Let us know in the comments!
