Gemini is Coming to Google TV For a Better Experience
Google is expanding how you use your TV as a smart home device, with Gemini coming to Google TV. Gemini on Google TV will be able to do a lot more than Google Assistant, and not just turn on the lights and give recommendations.
Gemini on Google TV should make finding entertainment a lot easier. When you are in a group, finding a movie shouldn’t be a debate. Finding something that everyone likes should be a lot simpler with a simple ask of Gemini like, “Find me something to watch with my friends. I like action, Katy likes comedies, and Mark likes drama.”
You could also catch up easily on your favorite shows by just saying, “What happened in the most recent season of Master Chef?” But I do think this one is a little weird that you wouldn’t watch one of your favorite TV shows, and just ask Gemini to summarize what happened.
What I think will be the most useful feature is the vague search feature. If you can’t remember the name of a movie or show that you just loved, you could just ask Gemini, “What movie looks like a comic book that is animated, and is about a multi-dimensional mix-up?” Then Gemini could give you an answer like, “The movie you're thinking of is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” You could even ask a follow-up question after asking a question like, “What is it rated?” This chat with Gemni could find you a new show or movie, or help you find one of your old favorites.
You can also learn on Google TV through Gemini by asking questions, and it will provide helpful answers with support for videos from YouTube and the ability to dive deeper into that topic right there on your TV.
Gemni will be available on the TCL QM9K series now. Later this year, Gemini will be available on more devices like the Google TV Streamer, Walmart onn. 4K Pro, 2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX models, and 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models.
