How to extend your phone’s battery life
We all know that feeling when your phone battery is low, and you’re nowhere near a charger. Even though phone batteries have gotten better over the years, they’ve just never been able to last as long as we want them to.
Lower screen brightness
Your screen can be one of the biggest battery drainers, so keeping your screen brightness on auto will help. If you want even better battery life, turn it down manually. You’ll be surprised how much longer your phone battery will last!
Use Low Power Mode
Both iPhone and Android have battery saving modes built in. On iPhone it’s called Low Power Mode, and on Android it’s usually called Battery Saver. These modes will limit background activity, reduce animations, and make your battery last longer when it’s getting low.
Turn off background activity
Most of your apps are trying to refresh in the background, and that can drain your battery a lot. If you want to limit that, go into settings and disable background refresh or just limit it for certain apps that you don’t need refreshed frequently
Disable location when not needed
GPS is another big battery user. If you’re not using maps or ride-sharing, you probably don’t need location services always turned on. Just turning off can save a lot of your battery.
Manage notifications
Constant push notifications not only distract you but also wake up your screen and drain power. Turn off notifications for apps you don’t care about.
Use dark mode (especially on OLED screens)
If you use a phone that has an OLED or AMOLED display, like most newer iPhones and Flagship Androids, then dark mode can actually save your battery. Your screen’s pixels use less power when displaying black.
Bonus Tip: Keep your battery healthy
Extreme heat, cold, and keeping your phones battery at 0% or 100% for long periods of time, can damage your battery health. Try keeping your battery between about 20%-80% if possible. And also don’t leave your phone charging all night, every night.
