TikTok adds Features to Help Users With AI-generated content
TikTok is now releasing a feature that will help users spot and understand AI-generated content. The tools include a new control to adjust how much AI-generated content appears to the user, improved labeling technology, including invisible watermarks, and a $2 million educational fund to promote AI literacy. This is very important because many other major platforms aren’t offering this level of user control or transparency, making TikTok’s approach uncommon. And since AI is growing across all platforms, this move shows how TikTok is preparing for the future.
The AI-generated control will be avalablel under Manage Topics, letting people raise or reduce AI-generated videos without removing them fully. The invisible watermarking feature is a hidden marker that stays in the content even if reuploaded or edited, making the labeling more reliable. You don’t see companies making invisible watermark systems, especially ones that cannot be removed. To do this, TikTok is using C2PA Content Creations and its own detection models.

TikTok’s $2 million AI literacy fund is meant to support experts and nonprofits like GirlsWhoCode to teach users about responsible and safe AI use. It is very rare to see companies that run social media apps do what TikTok is doing by joining in partnerships in AI and how they are participating in directing communities. The company plans to keep updating these systems as AI changes, offering more transparency than many other apps. These steps don’t solve everything with AI, but they do show a growing industry movement toward more accountability.
Will you turn on this feature if you have TikTok? Do you think other social media apps like YouTube and Instagram should make similar AI transparency tools? Do you think this feature will make an actual impact? Let us know in the comments!
