The unreleased smart speaker hiding in plain sight
While we were watching this years Made By Google event, we saw a smart speaker that Google has never announced. I looked similar to an Apple HomePod Mini, and here are some things that may be coming.
At the start of the event Rick Osterloh, the Senior Vice President of Platforms and Devices, said that Gemini AI would be coming to platforms that it had not been on. Google Home was one of them, and then in an ad we saw an unreleased smart speaker right next to Lando Norris, a famous F1 driver!
Android Headlines reported that they saw other images of the smart speaker, with other colors like: bright red, light green, white, and black. As we can see in the video it has a light on the bottom, that’s different from the older Google smart speakers that have them on the top.
For features, it should be able to do a thing like the Apple HomePods, by connecting to Google TV Streamer to give it the ability to play audio in Spatial Audio. It should also include natural voice options, and the ability to detect unusual noises like a smoke alarm or glass breaking. We also hope that it will have full support for Matter, the smart home standard.
