DJI’s New Tripod Aims to Make Content Creation Feel Effortless

Just 8 months after releasing the Osmo Mobile 7 Pro, DJI has unveiled the new Osmo Mobile 8. With its quick follow-up, it shows that DJI is very focused on the smartphone stabilizer market. Even though the design looks almost the same, the Osmao 8 introduces a few new features, like the 360-degree rotation and Apple DockKit support.

Some new features include: the new 360-degree rotation and pan capabilities, a first for the series making it better at shooting difficult angles, Apple DockKit that allows for better subject tracking across different camera apps, and an upgraded tracking module that now recognizes pets like cats and dogs in addition to humans. The tripod was made with both vloggers and creators in mind, who want hands-free tracking.

DJI has mostly kept the same hardware from the Osmo Mobile 7 Pro, like built-in tripod legs, an 8.4-inch telescoping rod, and a multifunctional magnet module. The battery life on the tripod is 10 hours, and it also has a counterweight mount that is made to help when using heavier smartphones or accessories. These refinements to the product are small but practical.

The Osmo Mobile 8 builds on the success of the Osmo Mobile 7 Pro with small but meaningful changes. It is currently available for a limited release in China, but we hope it will be available internationally soon.

Do you think DJI is upgrading too fast between models? Are small upgrades like these enough to make you want another gimbal if you had one before? Let us know in the comments!
