Apple and Bailey Hikawa Team Up on a Funky/Fun MagSafe Grip Built for Accessibility
Apple has been partnering with premium and artistic brands lately, from their iPhone Sock collaboration to this new, more purposeful accessory that is made in partnership with Bailey Hikawa. It is a limited edition phone grip and stand, created with artist and designer Bailey Hikawa, available for way cheaper than the iPhone Sock at $69.95 at the Apple Store and other places.
The grip stands out in Appleโs recent launch of designer collaborations because it is focused not only as an accessory but as a part of Appleโs ongoing accessibility focus. The grip was developed with direct input from individuals with disabilities affecting things like muscle strength, dexterity, and hand control. It is made out of soft-touch silicone with some cool colors, is attached through MagSafe, and can be used as a grip or a stand in both portrait and landscape modes.
Apple is positioning the grip as a part of its 40-year commitment to accessibility, making the partnership feel more mission-driven than trend-driven. Hikawa noted that no single device can meet every adaptive need, signaling both transparency and realism about the product scope.
Hikawa usually does other types of design work, like sculptural, functional, and sometimes unconventional pieces, showing why Apple might choose her for an accessibility-driven accessory collaboration. Plus, it is great to see how Apple is actually partnering with others to help others.
Should Apple keep partnering with artists and fashion brands, or focus more on in-house designs? Would this type of MagSafe grip actually improve how you use your phone daily? Let us know in the comments!
