5 tips to make your phone faster

Our phones aren’t quick forever. Over time they usually slow down, apps load slower, and simple things like just opening your camera app can lag. But before you think of getting a new phone, here are some tricks you can do to speed things up.

Delete apps you don’t use

Most of us have apps that we have downloaded only once and never touched ever again. These unused apps take up storage and sometimes will even run in the background. Deleting them or offloading them will open up space on your phone, so it has less to manage.

Restart your phone regularly

It sounds so simple, but restarting it can actually help a lot. It clears temporary files, refreshes memory, and gives your phone a fresh start. If your phone begins to feel slow, try restarting it at least once a week.

Keep software up to date

Updates aren’t just new features, they also fix bugs and help performance. Make sure your operating system and apps are up to date, so you are getting the best speed and stability.

Turn off background refresh

Many apps will keep working even when not in use. On iPhone you can control this in Settings > General > Background App Refresh, and on Android it’s under Battery & Performance. Turning this off for apps that don’t need it will save your battery and speed things up.

Free up storage

When your phone’s storage is nearly full, everything slows down. Try to keep about 10-15% of your storage free, all the time. Some things that can help are deleting photos and video, or just move them to the cloud. Even a small cleanup of your phone can make a huge difference.

Bonus Tip: If your phone is still running slow after all of this, it could be due to you battery health or just age catching up. In that case, a reset or new phone might be a better option.
