Run

When I found the Nike Run Club app (NRC), I thought it would be just a normal running app, but no, it has some cool features like plans, challenges, discounts, and more.

The NRC app is available on both iOS and Android, and is a part of Nike’s fitness ecosystem. The core features of run tracking on the app are pace, distance, elevation, splits tracking, audio-guided runs from coaches and athletes, different training plans, community challenges, and the ability to create your own, and shoe tracking for logging miles per pair and reminders when to replace them.

NRC also makes running fun and gamified with milestones, achievements, and digital badges/trophies, which make you want to run more to get them. You can also join local or regional challenges, or even create your own plan with friends. Real-time sharing lets you share your live run location so friends and family can “watch along” even if they don’t have the app. You can even have in-run cheers/audio encouragement from friends and family. All of these features make running a fun commitment and keep you and your friends motivated to run more.

With different training plans like 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon, you can get better prepared for your next race or beat your best time. You can even customize the plans based on your current level and how many days/weeks you can run. There are even tips for choosing a plan to match your level and consider recovery.

Also, when you use the Nike Run Club app, you become like a member of a club with special discounts on your birthday, and the ability to have a personalized experience at different Nike stores.

Some tips for the NRC app are: sync your wearable if you have one for better data, use challenges and run with friends when possible to stay consistent, review your progress by looking at trends in pace and mileage over weeks, and try guided runs to keep things fresh.

There are also some potential drawbacks and things to be aware of, such as, there are occasional glitches or tracking inaccuracies that some users have reported, the social features are somewhat basic compared to other specialized social fitness apps, and sometimes the app can drain your battery due to GPS, especially on long runs.

I think the Nike Rin Club app is a pretty solid choice to track your runs, and I encourage you to try it for a week and pick a training plan, and see how you like it. I would also like to say that I do know that other apps offer similar or even more features. But this is my favorite app, and if you have a favorite app for tracking your runs, please leave a comment.

Have you used Nike Run Club before? What’s your favorite feature? Which training plan would you like to try first? Did you discover any glitches or useful hacks while using the app? Let us know in the comments!
