Honda is reviving their Prelude name plate this fall
Honda has officially revived their iconic Prelude name, with the all new 2026 Honda Prelude. It will make its North American debut later this fall. This all new model blends hybrid efficiency with performance, becoming the first Prelude to ever feature Honda’s two-motor hybrid system and be paired with the Civic Type R chassis
Powertrain & Performance
This Prelude has a 2.0 liter Atkinson cycle 4 cylinder engine and two-motor hybrid system. This setup produces 200 horsepower, and 232 lb-ft of torque. It will only be available in a front-wheel drive version, with Honda's S+ Shift system, which gives simulated shifting, rev matched downshifts, and better engine sound. It will also be available in Comfort, GT, Sport, and Individual options.
Design & Exterior
Like most modern vehicles, this new Prelude gets an aggressive front design, and a low and aerodynamic silhouette. Other styling elements include a double bubble roof, flared fenders, flush door handles, a full-width taillight, black chrome grille, and large front spoiler.
For some extras you can get a decklid spoiler, front underbody spoilers, black emblems, and extra wheel options.
As for colors there is Winter Frost Pearl, Rally red, Meteorite Gray Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and Boost Blue Pearl. Aren’t those some fun names!
Interior & Technology
For seating there is a 2+2 configuration, with leather-trimmed front sport seats, that come with a houndstooth pattern and heating. As for the rear seats there is 32 inches of legroom. And lastly in the back there is 15.1 cubic feet of cargo space.
As for interior colors there is a blue/white two-tone or black with blue stitching.
In your cockpit area you get a 9-inch touchscreen, with Google built in. The touchscreen also has support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include a wireless charger, Wi-Fi hotspot, 8 speaker Bose Centerpoint sound system, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel with Prelude specific graphics.
Safety
This generation of the Prelude gets Honda Sensing standard. With features like Collision Mitigation Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
Other safety features include Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Auto High Beams, and Driver Attention Monitor.
Honda Strategy
The Prelude is joining Honda’s lineup alongside the Accord, CR-V, and Civic hybrids. Honda is expecting over 60% of U.S. sales to be hybrids in the upcoming years. Prelude represents a return to Honda’s classic lineup, the Civic, Accord, and Prelude. Which are now all available in hybrids. I can’t wait to see the Prelude on the roads. In there mean time let’s marvel at these pictures from Honda.
